Advanced Communications Skills Training

What will I learn from this course?

Effective communication is essential for delivering high-quality patient care. This course provides a supportive environment to explore challenging communication issues drawn from your own practice.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Reflect on your personal response to communication challenges and develop strategies to manage them effectively.
  • Apply active listening skills to recognize and respond to verbal and non-verbal cues.
  • Support patients, families, and colleagues in articulating their concerns with confidence.
  • Deliver information in a clear, compassionate way, and tailored to individual needs.
  • Navigate complex conversations with sensitivity, working towards a shared and meaningful conclusion.

Course Content:

eLearning Platform 

  • Access eLearning materials one month before the workshop.
  • Engage with 2–3 hours of short videos covering key communication skills, models, theories, and example role-plays.

Individual Coaching  

  • Participate in a 20-minute one-on-one coaching session approximately one week before the workshop.
  • Develop a personalised communication challenge to use in role-play exercises.

2-Day Workshop

  • Participate in an interactive, online experiential workshop.
  • Practice communication skills by role-playing real-world scenarios based on your own experiences.
