Warehouse Operatives – Margate

Salary: £22,282 per annum (to be pro-rated based on hours)

We are looking to add a new member to our team within the warehouse at Pilgrims Hospices, the successful candidate would be placed within the book department – the main role of the successful candidate would be to help supply our bookshops with the relevant books for each of our shops across East Kent. In doing so you would be processing donated books determining which are saleable / recyclable. The ideal candidate would have a passion for books and literature, any knowledge around art would be most advantageous. This role is a physically demanding role with a large volume of books to process each day

The Role

As a Warehouse Operative you will support the day to day running of the Warehouse and Logistics Operation.  Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Receive, sort, prepare and label stock to be sold in our retail stores
  • Identifying donations that would sell in specialist shops or on Ebay
  • Demonstrating good housekeeping when sorting and storing goods
  • Preparing and pricing stock
  • Being ‘till trained’ to support the Warehouse shop(s) when customers need assistance and wish to pay for goods.
  • Acting as ‘stand in’ support for the Retail Shops, covering lunch breaks and on occasion holiday or absence.

The post holder must ensure that Supervisor duties are completed to a high standard, in line with standards expected within a Warehouse environment.

Working Arrangements

These are part-time roles (either 21 or 14 hrs per week)  and are based at Pilgrims Hospice Tivoli Brooks. Please indicate your preference of hours (14 or 21) on your application.
The successful candidates should be flexible, able to work Monday to Sunday in a regular shift pattern and be able to do additional hours from time to time, covering sickness and holidays. You will be provided with free on-site parking.
